Advent Mass 2019

On Tuesday 17th December, around 450 students from across our seven year groups gathered in the Sports Hall for our annual Advent end-of-term Mass. We welcomed Fr. Chris Hughes from the parish of St. Cuthbert’s & St. Joseph’s, who celebrated for us.

The Mass was celebrated for the special intention of Mr Mick Douglas, a much loved former teacher at St. Thomas More and formerly St. Anselm’s. We were delighted to have some of Mick’s family join us for the Mass.

The celebration opened with singers from the Year 7 & 8 Culture Club – this year they sang a song in the Malawian language of Chichewa, a language spoken by some of our students in school. We were then led in beautiful song by students in the School Orchestra and the Lower & Upper School Choirs.

Our artwork and decoration was designed by students in Year 7 and 8, our readers were students from Year 11 and the sound was controlled by students also in Year 11.

We had a fantastic celebration and it was a wonderful way to end what has been a very, busy and tiring term for all!
