“We strive.. in our work, worship and relationships.” Our Mission Statement.
Praise is a much more powerful tool than sanctions and is much more in keeping with the ethos of the school. Therefore, frequent use of encouraging language and gestures, both in lessons and around the school is encouraged so that positive behaviour is recognised and positively rewarded.
Rewards for good behaviour will include, but are not limited:
- Use of ClassCharts to celebrate STRIVE behaviours.
- Congratulatory post cards home
- Letters to parents
- Celebration Assemblies
Pupils and parents mainly use ClassCharts to keep track of homework, but pupils also have access to their STRIVE points and the school uses ClassCharts to send messages to pupils.
The ClassCharts Students app is also how pupils can use the Rewards Store, where they can spend their positive points to purchase rewards.
The ClassCharts Students app works on Android and iOS, but pupils can also log in to their ClassCharts account via the ClassCharts website.
In addition to the rewards store, students are routinely recognised for their achievements ClassCharts by their teachers and the pastoral team. Recognition can include Early Lunch Passes and even social media celebration posts.
The use of The ClassCharts App is a vital component in supporting your child during their time at St. Thomas More. Aside from sharing positive and negative behaviour incidents with you, your child’s teachers will also set homework using the app, making it easier for parents and carers to understand what independent work is expected from week to week. In addition, each child’s timetable is visible via the parent and pupil app which supports organisation and preparation for learning in general.
