Celebration of Dance Evening

By Emma Walker, Katy Burton and Elizabeth Graham, Year 12

On the 14th June 2017, the Performing Arts department held their annual ‘Celebration of Dance’ evening in the brand new dance studio. The features of the new studio include a new lighting and sound system, tiered seating for audiences and a sprung floor to allow the dancers to do more tricks without injuring themselves.

Dancers from Year 7 to Year 12 took part in the wonderful evening and performed in front of their family and friends. This was the perfect opportunity for the girls to showcase their dance skills in front of an audience, and it was lovely to see how talented the dancers in lower school are. We also got to see two solo pieces from Year 11 students who performed their exam pieces.

All of the dances were a huge success and displayed the variety of dance styles we study in school, from contemporary to jazz and urban to musical theatre. All of the girls that took part received brilliant feedback and the night itself was a huge success.
