Girls Maths Olympiad

by Caitlin Pang, Year 12

At the beginning of October, I sat the UK Maths Olympiad for Girls along with Elizabeth Adamson, Shruthi Sathish and Olivia Smith. The paper is 2 and a half hours long with 5 questions each worth 10 marks. The questions are really challenging and deliberately difficult to really try and make you think. It is also interesting to attempt problems that are so different to what we do in A Level Maths. I think the papers are really important as one of the big aims is to try and encourage more girls in maths and science subjects, and I think that this Olympiad really helps to promote interest.
