History / Music trip to London

Annie Johnson and Brooke Armstrong, Year 9

The London trip has to be one of the best trips I’ve ever been on, even though we had to be awake at 4:30! There were so many great experiences and I learnt so much!  We started off by going to The Globe Theatre, which is a replica of the theatre Shakespeare used to perform his plays in.  This was incredible to see, and people took lots of photos. We then visited the Cabinet War Rooms, which is in a secret bunker under London.  This housed the British government command centre during the Second World War, but also now tells the story of Winston Churchill’s life.  Later that day we went to the Lyceum Theatre to watch The Lion King; the singers were so talented and the costumes were amazing.  We only got back to our rooms at about 10.30pm, but everyone was still so excited that we couldn’t get to sleep until much later, and we were then awake again at 6.30am for another exciting day.

On the second day, we visited the Imperial War Museum, which was quite upsetting in parts but it was really cool to look at different objects they actually used during the war. We then went to Harry Potter Studios, which was our favourite part. We even got to try a butterbeer, which many of us have wanted to try for ages.  We also saw so many amazing props and sets including the Great Hall. Everyone loved the trip and some of us actually managed to sleep on the way back.  We would certainly recommend it to any Year 8 students if they get the opportunity!
