Message for Mr Jonathan Ashworth

Students at St. Thomas More RC Academy have spent the last two years campaigning on issues surrounding mental health in our community.

They have been successful at negotiating a re-development of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in North Shields following stories heard and shared by peers. They have been involved in the Tyne & Wear Citizens Mental Health Commission sitting as student commissions alongside key public figures including Catherine McKinnell, parliamentary Labour candidate for Newcastle North. They were also involved in the publication of the Living Well report which was released following the commission.

Now, students are campaigning for legislation for school counselling provision in every school in England – something which is already legislated for in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

As such, we would like to invite Mr. Jonathan Ashworth, who has served as Shadow Health Secretary since 2016, to meet with us and hear all about our passion and our work.

Jonathan, we have a message for you……
