‘Show Racism the Red Card’ at St Thomas More

By Angela Pascua, Year 11 and Human Rights Ambassador

As Human Rights Ambassadors, we ran assemblies to each of the year groups concerning the significance of ‘Show Racism the Red Card‘, which is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. In our assemblies, we discussed the meaning of racism and the importance of this organisation, highlighting the necessity of supporting it.

In PSE, we reiterated the message of our assemblies and emphasised the point of wearing red on Friday 19th October. We did this to visually illustrate our solidarity with the cause.

Marking Anti-Racism week was important to us as Human Rights Ambassadors as we presented our part as advocates for anti-racism. At the same time, being a person of colour who has been subject to racially discriminatory encounters (not in school however), it was enlightening to see an overwhelming support for the cause fighting against it.
