Literacy across the curriculum was the focus of our November Training Day for most staff. We were pleased to welcome Tom Martell from the Education Endowment Foundation, a charity that works to improve the outcomes of 3-18 year olds, particularly those facing disadvantage. He gave an excellent keynote speech on literacy and then ran a workshop on how to teach academic vocabulary. Staff also took part in a wide range of other workshops related to reading and writing. We even enjoyed a book swap during the tea break, trading a book that we had enjoyed for something else recommended by a colleague.
