Year 8 Geography trip to Seaton Sluice

By Amy Tullock and Lily Hughes

Over the course of two days (Thursday 8th and Friday 9th June) all of Year 8 went on a trip to Seaton Sluice with Geography. This trip will help with our new topic which is Coasts. Firstly, we walked along Seaton Burn, and after filling out a few questions in our booklets, we walked down to Collywell Bay and took a big group photo next to Collywell Stack. A few of us even fell into a small pool of water when trying to get back to the bay! While we were on the beach we learnt about the processes of erosion that had created the stack, and how these processes are still going on today.

Once we had visited Collywell Bay, we walked to the fish & chip shop and after waiting in a long queue we finally had food (although the seagulls did try to steal some chips!). After lunch we spent a bit of time on the beach, playing games and ending up covered in sand because we were a bit competitive!  The weather was beautiful, unluckily for the other side of the year it rained all day on the Thursday. This trip was a great experience and we hope the next Year 8s will have as much fun as us.
