Health and Social Care trip to Sunderland University

Chloe Grant and Lyndsey Howe, Year 12

On Wednesday 1st February, the year 12 Health and Social Care students went on a visit to Sunderland University, where we experienced a tour of the campus and a lecture.  This was an opportunity to find out more about university life and what Sunderland University has to offer.  When we first arrived we were welcomed by student ambassadors who showed us around the campus.  We then went on to learn how to budget money when staying in student accommodation and played a game to see who would save the most money.  As part of our tour we saw the largest lecture hall in the university, which can hold up to 300 people, and visited Spark Radio, a student-run university radio station.  After lunch we were given some information on the courses on offer at Sunderland, how many UCAS points we would need to get into university and about the different societies.  We also learnt how to achieve extra UCAS points by joining summer schools and the NCS (National Citizen Service).  The day was really inspiring, and a truly unique experience.
