Careers

It is never too early to start thinking about possible career pathways. You will learn about careers in your PSE lessons, but also in all of your subjects too. If you need help then please speak to your, Form Tutor, Head of Year or Mrs Merchant. We also have a Connexions advisor in school called Lee Pattison, who can offer external IAG for your future. If you would like an appointment with Lee please request this via your form tutor or Mrs Merchant.

There is a Careers section in the school library.

 

The websites below will give you lots of information:

  • National Careers Service: a comprehensive careers website with job profiles, outlining: the skills required, main tasks, pay levels and career prospects for hundreds of different jobs. In addition, valuable guidance on the different stages involved in getting a job.

  • i could: helpful videos about a wide range of job roles, plus a quiz to find out about the range of jobs which might suit you.

  • UCAS:  a very helpful website for students thinking of applying to higher education.   Also contains valuable information on different options, including apprenticeships.

  • Fire it up: A site which tells you all about apprenticeships and has links to apprenticeship vacancies.

  • Ask Apprenticeships: There are lots of resources on this site which tells you all about apprenticeships at all levels. (Intermediate, Advanced, Higher & Degree)

  • BBC Bitesize: This part of the BBC Bitesize website includes information about a range of careers, as well as how to develop key employability skills.

  • Success at School: This website has lots of information about career pathways, and also things like CVs.

  • Newcastle College: Delivers a range of courses and apprenticeships at post-16 and post-18, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

  • Tyne Met College: Delivers a range of courses and apprenticeships at post-16 and post-18, based in Wallsend.

  • Unifrog: Students in KS4 and 5 will have a login for this site.
