Our most recent Catholic schools inspection that took place on the 9th and 10th February. The team of four inspectors judged St. Thomas More to be Outstanding in every category, and sub section. As the first secondary school in the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese to be inspected under the more rigorous national Catholic Schools Inspection framework, we feel humbled by the report. The inspection judgements are as follows:
Overall Effectiveness: Outstanding
Catholic Life and Mission: Outstanding
Religious Education: Outstanding
Collective Worship: Outstanding
Here are some key quotes from the inspection report that we feel are important to both highlight and celebrate.
“Students feel valued, safe and loved, enabling them to flourish academically and holistically.”
“Students are known by name and cared for deeply.”
“The most vulnerable students are prioritised in a community where all feel valued.”
“Very strong links between the school and the local clergy have led to the sustained provision of opportunities for students to attend Mass and sacramental preparation.”
“Religious literacy is an outstanding feature of the department.”
