German exchange teacher Frau Bey

by Frau Bey

I have just come back from an amazing two weeks at your school where I worked as a German exchange teacher before the Easter break. It was such a fabulous time, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. A BIG thank you to the great staff in the MFL Department, in particular to Ms Fisher and Ms Wakeman, who were so supportive and are just wonderful people!

As a teacher in the Modern Foreign Languages Department, I had the opportunity to help prepare students for their imminent speaking exams, which was an incredibly rewarding experience.  The students were thankful and engaged, and I was impressed by their proficiency in the German language. It was clear that they were working hard to improve their language skills, and I was happy to be a part of that process.

In addition to helping with the speaking exams, I gave presentations to the students about Frankfurt, Easter, and my school: the Elisabethenschule in Frankfurt am Main. It was a fantastic opportunity to share my culture and traditions with the students.

I also had the opportunity to work in the classroom with the students who were learning French and German. It was a great experience to see the students engage with these languages and to see their progress throughout the lessons. The students were eager to learn, and it was clear that they were benefitting from the school’s excellent language programme and the teachers, who were so committed to the students’ achievement and personal development.

Overall, my stay at our school was incredibly successful, and I am very grateful for this wonderful opportunity. The students, staff, and administration were all welcoming and supportive, and I felt like I was a part of the community during all my time there.

I want to express my gratitude to everyone at the school for making my stay such a memorable and enjoyable experience. I hope to return in the future and am happy to tell you that our cooperation will continue in a letter-writing project for our Year 6 students in Frankfurt and your Year 8 students in North Shields!
