Year 7 gather to start their journey at St Thomas More

by Olivia Clarke, Year 7

On 31st October 2017, Year 7 came together to celebrate our welcome mass.  We were joined by Father Martin Stempczyk, who led us in our service.  Students from form classes across Year 7 read the prayers and readings.  The bidding prayers encouraged us to think about conflict in the world and those less fortunate than ourselves, allowing us to reflect upon what we have to be thankful for.  To enhance the gospel, students from 7E delivered a creative performance bringing to life the details of the gospel message.  Year 7 were joned by two sixth form students who led the singing.

This welcome mass brought us together and gave us the chance to relfect on our transition from our various primary schools to continue our education at St Thomas More RC Academy.

All Year 7 students were given a prayer card, brilliantly designed by 7M, as a reminder of our welcome mass.  It shows an image of St Thomas More and a prayer written by him; it gives us guidance on how to find joy in life and how to share this with others.
